The Snow Queen: a frosty, sparkling collaboration

One of the most fascinating collaborations of Foilco together with Dreyer Kliche: the collection The Snow Queen. Inspired by the iconic Danish fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersenthis series of deluxe prints and boxes pays tribute to the figure of the Snow Queen. In the story, the Queen is a majestic and enigmatic being who lives in a palace of ice, surrounded by snowflakes that seem to come to life around her. This idea of cold majesty and visual delicacy is perfectly reflected in each piece of the collection.

Innovation in every detail

What makes this collaboration unique is the use of advanced techniques that elevate the concept of the foil printing to another level. From the use of microstructures to recreate snowflakes and icicles on the walls of the ice palace, to the use of foil on foil and multi-level embossing, the result is astonishing. The textures seem to come to life, creating a contrast between the cold ice and the glow of the foil.

One of the greatest achievements of this collection is its use of the halftone effect to capture the details of the Queen's face in the boxes. The effect manages to simulate a gradient through variations in the size and shape of the dots, giving an almost photographic look that brings out the expression and depth of the character.

In addition, the combination of layered foils allows the image to have a three-dimensional effect, breaking with the idea that foil is only for flat prints. Cool metallic colours, pearlescent tones and iridescent reflections intertwine to give the character a crystalline icy feel.

Foils that inspire

The Snow Queen is not only an example of boundless creativity, but also a showcase of what can be achieved with advanced techniques and high quality materials. It is proof that the world of foil is not limited to flat finishes, but can be transformed into true works of art.
